Privacy Policy

Testmydriving.com is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. This Privacy Notice provides important information about how testmydriving.com identifies and manages its Data Protection responsibilities in accordance with its legal and regulatory obligations.

Before you sign up, you're required to read this information and agree to the consent form ensuring that you have understood and agree to the conditions of registration and participation.

The aim of testmydriving.com is to provide a tool for researchers at Nottingham Trent University (NTU) to collect data from the online hazard perception tests, whilst allowing you to try out and practise your skills at them. We use this data for our research into improving driver training tools for the public, both through evaluation of our current tests and to inform the creation of new tests.

The type of data we will collect include:

  • Your age.
  • Your sex.
  • Your country of origin (where you are taking the test from).
  • Your driving history, including driving experience, your accident history and points on license.
  • Your scores on the testmydriving.com hazard perception tests.
  • What kind of device you are taking the tests on (phone, tablet, laptop)

This data will be collected when you register for an account on testmydriving.com. We use this data for research purposes and to evaluate the hazard perception tests based on the results you get. No other data will be collected from you other than what you provide upon signing up.

We keep your data secure by using appropriate technologies and procedures to protect personal information. To protect your anonymity, any data you provide us will be given a ‘unique identifier’ - a code that all of your information and data will be stored under. Only the research team at NTU will have access to your data and it will not be passed on to any other parties. Summaries of non-personal data (data that cannot be in any way connected to you) such as your demographics (e.g., age, sex), responses in the questionnaires and results from the online hazard perception tests may be retained by us long-term, as part of a larger data set and used for publication. Remember, any data you provide will be in an anonymous form and individual identification from this will not be possible. Once the research has been published, any data that is not required will be destroyed.

Your agreement to take part in this research is completely voluntary and you have the right to withdraw yourself from the data collection at any point, without giving a reason. You also reserve the right to withdraw your data from the research at any time, up until the point of data analysis. However, this means you will not be able to access certain tests on the testmydriving.com website, as they require data to be collected for research purposes.

The data is processed in accordance to this and Nottingham Trent University's Data Protection and Privacy Policies, which you can read by clicking on the links.

If you have any questions about your participation, or do not understand the instructions, feel free to contact the testmydriving.com research team at [email protected], should you have any further questions or wish to withdraw your data after the experiment has been conducted.
